I only discovered the existence of 60% mechanical keyboards very recently through the same Youtube channel where I found the speaker that I talked about in the previous post. The only time when I used mechanical keyboards was when I was a child and my home PC was still working. After that, I completely transitioned into laptops and forgot about their existence … until I found the video.
Being a sucker for anything cute or pretty, the design of Anne Pro 2 immediately caught my eye. Apparently, it has been the most popular mechanical keyboards for these past 2 years or so. Quality, design, and functionality is on par with the price tag. But I guess the greatest trigger for why I bought the keyboard was because my macbook backspace key stopped working completely one day. Of course, I have the choice to get it repaired, but I don’t think repair centres are gonna operate that quick especially because of the virus.
I said fuck it and went for the keyboard. Spent $80 for the gateron brown switches and I didn’t regret one bit.
I bought mines from Amazon Japan. I originally placed an order through another website, but it went out of stock for the longest time. So I decided to sacrifice a bit of money and bought it off Amazon since they have stock and ships quicker.
I was impressed when I held the keyboard on my hands. It doesn’t feel cheap, it has some weight to it, and the keys feel so nice on my fingertips.
My desk is so messy I gave up taking proper pictures
The package comes with a USB C cable, key puller, and extra keycaps that you can use to modify the keyboard. You can use the keyboard via bluetooth as well, but I’ve read that it’s not as reliable, so I decided to use the cable.
A dedicated program is downloadable for Windows, Linux, and Mac. It allows you to modify function keys, backlights, and other stuff such as macros. But as I use this keyboard only for typing and not gaming, I didn’t touch the settings as much for now.
So far, I love the typing sensation and the sound it makes. The rainbow backlights makes everything extra pretty! I’m looking forward to use this keyboard for a long time!
I’ve been wanting a bluetooth speaker for the longest time but couldn’t find one with my preferred design and price range. Then I stumbled upon a Youtube video that features a speaker from the brand Divoom. I thought it has everything that I wanted and the price wasn’t that bad for the feature and quality it offers.
Bless my friend because he decided to get this speaker for me as a super early birthday gift! He ordered it online and it got to me around one week after the order was placed.
The packaging was so extra. I love my self some extra packaging but I feel guilty at the same time because I know it’s not the sustainable thing ever. Other products from this company also have a similar packaging design, so I guess it’s their concept. They also give you the small bag in case you want to send it off as a present to someone else!
Inside the package, you will find a USB C cable, the speaker itself, two sheets of stickers, and a user manual.
You can insert a memory card up to 64gb filled with your own songs so you can always play it without having the speaker connected to anything!
The basic operations for this speaker can be done through the keys and the knob. Aside from being a speaker, it can also be a radio, alarm, and game if you’re bored! You can also customize the screen with other artworks that can be found online through the Divoom mobile app.
List of functions
Overall, I’m really impressed with the quality and functions! Figuring out the app was a bit stressful at first, but I finally got the hang of it after fiddling with it after some time. Audio quality was not bad at all! I think it’s a worthwhile purchase if you’re looking into some cute retro speakers to light up your desk.
I finally purchased another Instax camera after seeing a great deal from Amazon during their Prime Day sale. This time I got myself a square version of it since I’ve been eyeing this one for quite some time. And sadly, my old Lomography camera is starting to break down. Every time I take pics, the results are weird and it looks like my pictures have glares when it’s not supposed to. I thought the films must’ve broken down when I brought it to Gotenba due to the extreme temperature, but when I tried it again in normal temperature, the results are still the same. 😦 I have no idea on how to fix it.
Well, before it gets boring, let’s get to the main thing.
I got the one in my most favorite color in the lineup, Rose Gold. I’ve actually seen a lot of reviews before deciding to purchase this camera. I debated whether I would get the camera or the SQ printer instead, but since the printer costs so much more (and wasn’t on sale), I decided to go for this one.
Top view
This camera is slightly heavier than the Lomography that I have. And the main reason why I bought it is not only it’s appearance, but the fact that it prints out square pictures instead of a rectangle. I find that square pictures are prettier and geometrically pleasing lol.
One of the test runs
This is a picture that was taken during a birthday party by one of the restaurant staff. The lighting was bad, and her hands were shaking and not stable, resulting in this blurry picture lol.
Basic functions
The camera comes with basic functions such as auto, selfie, macro, landscape, double exposure, lighten, and darken. It also has a setting for 10 seconds timer and no flash. The tiny little frame on the bottom right displays the number of pictures you can take left with your refills.
A little scratch at the back
One unfortunate thing about this camera was the scratch on the backside of it. I didn’t notice it until I looked very closely. It was disappointing, but nothing could be done with it. Oh well.
Overall impression: I like this one so much better than my previous instant camera since it looked like a toy. This one actually looks so much more sophisticated and pretty and it prints square pictures! It’s also nice to use for selfies. I think it’s nice for people who love spontaneousness. If you’re someone who likes perfection, I recommend buying the SQ printer instead since you can pick the pictures you really want and print it out.
Other notes: The set comes with a camera strap, 3 flash filters (iirc, green, orange, purple), and 2 CR2 batteries. So you only need to buy the film pack for the first time using it. I recommend getting a tripod if you like shooting in various settings since the picture gets blurry so easily when there is not enough light source.
I hope this post was helpful to you somehow. What do you think of instant cameras? Do you own one? If not, do you want to own one?
I just got myself a new Sony ∝6000 mirorrless camera two weeks ago! I bought it with the savings I accumulated from my scholarship money. I’ve always wanted to get my own legit camera for so many years but I always ended up changed my mind in the last minute since it was too expensive. I finally mustered up the courage to buy it.
The lens protector
The camera itself is actually pretty old in the market. Thus, the cheaper price tag. People now consider it as a beginner’s camera, which is perfect for me. It doesn’t come with memory card, LCD protector, or lens protector. So I had to get all of those separately.
Menu in Japanese
The affordable price is really appealing for beginners, but of course, it comes with a downside. First, the menu is all in Japanese and there is no way to change it to English unless you patch it manually. It’s a bit risky for me so I did not do it. Second, the battery life sucks. Third, poor audio quality (no mic jack too). There lots of other things to list but those are my main three concerns. However, for an overall price of 70k yen, I think the pros outweigh the cons.
The picture form the two previous posts are all taken with the camera and I’m pretty pleased with the results. I hope this camera will last for a long time. ♥
This is going to be the most random post about my bucket list I’ve every written, probably.
Nintendo Switch
A few days ago Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing will be coming to Switch in 2019 and I couldn’t resist the excitement! However, I’ve just purchased a 2DS recently so I guess I’ll have to resist purchasing a Switch for now lol. Who knows, they’ll be releasing a special Animal Crossing skin in the future?
Obviously, Hobonichi
Forest leather cover
I know I’ve made a post about the Hobonichi covers I’m interested in this year. If I’d been in Japan on the day of the release, I would’ve definitely purchased soda water, but since I’m still stuck in Indonesia, I ended up browsing more of the other covers I didn’t pay attention to in the first place. After looking at some Instagram photos from other users, I became attracted to this leather cover. I’m so tempted to get it but the price is too much!
Postcard with quotes from Tools to Liveby
There’s also this combination of cover that I came up with! I plan to stick this postcard to the black cover as a decoration to make the planner prettier! It will certainly cost less than purchasing the leather cover, but I’m still unsure. I’ve never seen a leather cover that beautiful, so I’m really torn! I would like to hear your opinion about which cover I should get so please leave your opinion in the comments!
The blue TN was actually released earlier this year but I’ve been holding myself back because I already have 3 TNs that are lying in my drawer unused. This is probably just one of my urges to purchase stationery, so hopefully it’ll subside soon. The blue color is so pretty, though!
Stationery bits
Washi tapes, fountain pen, fountain pen ink
Perhaps I’ve watched and seen too many aesthetic Youtube and Instagram feeds. I have a Pilot Kakuno fountain pen, but it ran out of ink so I’m debating whether I should buy the ink refill or the cartridge. People say the ink bottle lasts you longer than the cartridges, but it’s still expensive in a way so I’m still debating about it.
I’m also planning to get another fountain pen because I feel my current one is too light? It has no weight to it so I wanted to try out the heavier ones.
The washi tapes are self explanatory lol.
The Little Book of Hygge
A book about happiness
One of the Youtubers I like mentioned this book a long time ago and she just made a new video about traveling to Denmark, so she brought this up again. This time, luckily, Amazon had it on stock so I plan to get it once I get back to Japan. Isn’t the cover pretty? That being said, I’m never a fan of self-help books because I feel they don’t really help me, though. To be honest, the reviews are pretty mixed but I’m just a sucker for beautiful things so let’s see how this book is.
By the way, Amazon finally has the Kawaii Tarot book in stock! Aaah, my wallet!
Fujifilm Instax Printer
It prints square photos
I was originally eyeing the camera version instead of the printer, but after watching some explanations about the camera and printer, I became convinced that the printer version is better since you can pick which photos you want to print and not waste films in the process. I think it would be a nice touch for journalling! The refills are not cheap so I’ll have to take that into account as well.
DSLR Camera
Canon EOS Kiss X9i
This camera was released last year and I think it’s called T7i or 800D outside Japan. It’s an entry-level camera which is great for both photo and video.
I’ve always wanted a DSLR camera but nowadays I begin to doubt the need of one since you can take both decent photo and video with your smartphone. I still like the idea of having at least one nice camera for trips and whatnots, though. No matter how advanced a smartphone camera can be, I still think it can’t beat an actual camera.
The problem is, of course, the price.
That will be the end of my current bucket list. I know this is too long and I feel like I want too many things lol.
I’m always sorry for my absence and for neglecting my blog like this. I haven’t been able to get into the mood of blogging again these days. Maybe because nothing eventful happens these days? Haha. The polaroid picture above was taken by me during the sakura season. (I finally got the chance to use my camera!) The riverbank that my friend discovered was beautiful and the ground was covered with sakura petals. We did hanami there and it was really great! Anyways, let’s get straight to the post.
Achievements
I applied for another scholarship this year and I got nominated for Oita Prefecture’s scholarship! The amount of money I get is lower than JASSO’s but I’m still grateful that I’ve earned another opportunity to receive a scholarship. Receiving this scholarship means that you have to participate in all of the programs that the Oita government conducts (it’s kind of a pain, yes). People say it’ll be very time consuming but who knows I can gain experiences? Haha.
Favorites
Violet Evergarden would be my favorite anime that just ended this early April. It’s a beautiful work of art done by Kyo Ani. I’m pretty sure almost everyone knows about this series since it’s really popular. I love all the songs starting from the opening, ending, and the OSTs in the anime. Recommended for people who love melodrama.
This spring, I’m following My Hero Academia and Steins;Gate 0. I’m especially hyped for Steins;Gate since I really loved the first series, so I’m really excited when they announced the second season of it!
Now onto the things I bought and loved …
Logicool G213 Prodigy RGB Gaming Keyboard (Logicool is Logitech in Japan.)
A freaking gaming keyboard. I never thought I’d needed one until I got one. Recently my gaming friends invited me to play another online game together and of course, I said yes. However, spending hours playing that game made my hand sore to the point it started to hurt to flick my wrist. I don’t know if Amazon had stalking abilities but a recommendation for gaming keyboard appeared when I was browsing. The features were cool and it was on a half-price discount. I jumped on the offer and now my wrist is happy! 🙂 It’s also super comfortable when I have to type my essays for a long period of time.
The next thing would be another tote bag (yes, I have too many bags, I know) from Baggu.
Denim Duck Bag from Baggu
Another shot of the bag
I first discovered the brand while I was browsing through the Google stories cards (all the online advertisements, I swear). I fell in love with the simplistic design and color in an instant and I was delighted when I figured out they also sell it in Japan. To be honest, for a tote bag, the price ain’t cheap, however, I haven’t regretted purchasing that bag until now since it’s so versatile and comfortable to use. The straps don’t leave a sharp stinging pain on my shoulders either, so that’s a plus.
Wishlist
Time for the random things I saw online but couldn’t get my hands on because of money problems …
Small Drawer Pouch: Peacocks of Grantham Hall
Hobonichi released a series of new accessories for Spring 2018, the Drawer Pouches. They’re designed to fit the things you have in your drawer from stationaries, makeup, etc. They have two sizes, small and large, and each size has 8 designs (4 of them has gone out of stock and won’t be restocked anymore.)
Interior of the peacock pouch
Peacocks of Grantham Hall is the first design that caught my eye since I saw the design being used for last year’s week’s cover. It’s super elegant and the tassel is just so extra. The interior colors are really nice as well.
Black Large Drawer Pouch
This is the larger version of the pouch and it can fit A5 papers. It has a lot of slots for credit cards, a mesh slot and a huge zipper in the middle to divide your things. The price of this black one is 1000 yen more compared to the small peacock pouch. Why do beautiful things have to be so expensive …
The last item is from Muji! (I have too many things that I want.)
Phone inside the case
The case itself
This is probably the most random thing I’ve found while browsing through Muji’s website: a splashproof phone case. It allows you to use your phone while you’re cooking or bathing without having to risk your phone’s safety. It’s not that expensive either so I thought I’d get this the next time I visit Muji.
That’s it for the post! Sorry if it’s long and image heavy and basically filled with random things but I hope it somewhat entertains you. Haha. I will post more when I get the chance to, so until then!
